What is it?

Constant noises (ringing or buzzing) in a person’s head when no similar external physical noise is present.

Some sounds a person with tinnitus may experience:

  • Ringing
  • Buzzing
  • Whistling
  • Roaring
  • Humming

What causes it?

  • Exposure to loud sounds – like concerts or the misuse of headphones
  • Extreme stress or trauma
  • Some medication
  • Earwax blockage
  • Age related hearing loss
