Hearing Aid Styles

Advances in Hearing Aid Technology means you now have more choice and features than ever before

Depending on your hearing loss and requirements, you may have a choice between a number of different hearing aid styles.

Hearing instruments are divided into three main types:

completely in the ear hearing aid
CIC (Completely-In-The-Canal)

This hearing aids are the smallest style. They can be nearly invisible but some people with more severe hearing losses or small ear canals may not be able to wear them.

in the ear hearing aid
ITEs (In-The-Ear)

They are slightly larger than the completely-in-the-canal (CIC) hearing aids so that they can accommodate more features and local controls.

behind the ear hearing aid
BTEs (Behind-The-Ear)

Custom shaped mould will guide the sound into the ear canal. BTE hearing instruments are able to fit a large range of hearing loss and are often easiest to manipulate.

Additional Hearing Aid Styles:

micro behind the ear hearing aid
Micro BTE

Are hearing aids that also sit behind the ear like standard BTE styles, but the sound is directed into the ear canal by a very thin, flexible tubing. Micro BTEs very discreet and almost invisible.

receiver in the ear hearing aid
RITE (Receiver-In-The-Ear)

Are hearing aids that are elegant and discreet Behind-The-Ear solution. The speaker unit is located in the ear canal, allowing for a very clear and natural sound.
